Sir,
I have the honour to forward for your
information copies of a letter dated 26th September received
from the Acting Consul-General at Canton and of my reply
thereto. The incident of Wong Fuk-chi's descent on the Bias
Bay neighbourhood has been reported to you in paragraph 9
of my Secret despatch of 15th September, 1927, while a
report on the case of Lau Lun is contained in my despatch
(.372 of 31st August, 1927.

The incidents at Sha Tau Kok which form the
subject of the opening paragraphs of both letters were
(a) A fresh attempt to use the path witlin British
territory by armed units from the garrison of the
Chinese market town just over the border;

(b) The stoppage by rifle fire of a boat traversing the
(British) waters opposite Sha Tau Kok and the arrest
and examination in the said market town of the boat's
crew who were subsequently released on security being
given by local shopkeepers.
